Zach's Lie, by Roland smith
This book has a lot of mysteries and surprises. Zach's life is all wrong. He doesn't know why his dads in jail. He has to change schools, town and his appearance. He hates everything that is happening to him. But then something happens, he meets Catalin and sam,the custodian. If you would like more information read the book yourself and find out what happens next. This book will keep you wanting to know more. I liked this book a lot because it is easy to understand. There wasn't one part that I didn't like about the book.I thought that the characters were really good. I like the way they put the journal that Zach was writing in each chapter. This book was believable because this situation could happen to anyone. I would totally recommend this book to other kids that like mysteries.
"My room is more like an enclosed hallway than a bedroom. I can stand in the middle of it with my arms spread and touch two of the walls with my fingertips"(pg.61).I like this passage because you can tell that he didn't have enough room were he was living."We are kept like prisoners in our new hotel"."They have taken the phones away"(pg.45). Almost all their life they have to hid and tell lies all the time. They can't easily go out to where ever they want because they are in danger. I would feel really bad if my dad was in jail and I didn't know why or if he was a drug dealer.
Zach disagrees with what his family says. He never wanted to move from were he lived and didn't believe that his fathers was a bad guy. This book is scary, fun and sad at the same time. I think that this is a good book for kids all ages because it is kind of easy to read. This book will keep you reading that's how you know that it is a good book.A connection that i made with the book was that I had a uncle in jail. Take my advice and read the book. If you really like the book then you are probably goging to like Roland smith's books like Thunder cave,Jaguar, Sasquatch and The Last Lobo.
